Montessori International’s infant room was created to be
not only developmentally appropriate but warm and homelike to ensure
children feel comfortable and secure. Caregivers meet infant’s
needs consistently, and promptly based on the child’s own
individual schedule. Infants are fed when hungry, changed when
diapers are soiled, consoled when distressed and sleep when tired.
Caregivers encourage infants to use their rapidly developing
cognitive and physical skills to explore their environment in
protected play
areas and crawl spaces. Weather permitting, each day infants
and their caregivers go outdoors for fresh air and a change of
scene.
